It is time to take a look at some of the biggest winners and losers from Sunday’s NFL action.
It was a big day for one backup quarterback (Marcus Mariota of the Washington Commanders), and a really bad day for a couple of young quarterbacks whose play is not matching the hype around them (Drake Maye of the New England Patriots and Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers).
NFL Week 3 winners
Jahmyr Gibbs, running back, Detroit Lions. Gibbs seems to find himself in this section a lot, and it’s not hard to see why given the way he plays and produces. He rushed for 99 yards on 20 carries, while also catching seven passes for 65 yards. He accounted for three touchdowns in the Lions’ 31-24 win over the New York Jets.
Max Iheanachor, offensive tackle, Pittsburgh Steelers. A lot of people played a big role for the Steelers in their 30-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, including quarterback Aaron Rodgers (three touchdowns), running back Jaylen Warren and tight end Darnell Washington. But the rookie offensive tackle (and first-round pick) got his first NFL start and help turn what had been a massive weakness through two weeks into a strength on Sunday.
Liam Coen, head coach, Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars dominated the Patriots on Sunday, and it gave Coen his 15th win and made him the fastest coach to 15 wins in franchise history.
