The Green Bay Packers continued their defensive tear with a dominant 23-13 win over the Dallas Cowboys on “Sunday Night Football,” allowing 14 points or fewer for a third consecutive game.
Here are some takeaways from Sunday’s NFL nightcap.
Key takeaway: Packers defense stymies Cowboys offense
A lot has been made of the historically bad defense from the Cowboys this season, but it was the offense that proved to be the major letdown on Sunday night.
While some of it was due to poor execution and missed opportunities, Green Bay’s defense deserves a lot of credit for shutting down the league’s sixth-ranked scoring offense coming into the night.
The Packers set the tone early with a pair of first-half interceptions, the first of which came when Evan Williams came down with the pick from inside the five-yard line, moments after Jordan Love’s only giveaway of the night set the Cowboys up with favorable field position.
