The Pittsburgh Steelers could make 2026 their season, thanks to having MVP-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers back for one more season. He’s back with the same coach he’s won a Super Bowl with before, too, in Mike McCarthy.

For Rodgers to soar, he needs a bevy of reliable targets on offense, and that’s something this franchise has been trying to craft for him.

But the Steelers already have a gem on offense who was once overlooked. You could call him a late bloomer because he never even got drafted, but he’s starting to really take off in the NFL. He could help Rodgers and the Steelers get back to the top spot in the AFC North, like they did last season.

Undrafted Steelers player, an Aaron Rodgers target, gets praise

Daire Carragher of Pro Football Focus has a feature out naming the best undrafted players currently in the league. One of them is Jaylen Warren of Pittsburgh.

“At age 27, Warren is coming off a career year, posting an 81.0 PFF grade, eclipsing 1,000 rushing yards for the first time and scoring eight total touchdowns,” Carragher noted. Those are solid numbers and not what you would expect from a player who didn’t even hear his name called in the draft.”

“Warren has dropped just two of 87 catchable targets since 2024 and ranked fourth among 64 qualifying running backs in PFF pass-blocking grade last season, making him a valuable contributor in every phase of the offense.”

So, Rodgers should make sure to toss to Warren this season. Having a reliable running back who’s just now starting to peak is a beautiful thing.
