There are plenty of big games on the Week 1 schedule, but these three catch attention for a different reason.
Each one has a question attached to it that could make the game mean a whole lot more than simply starting the season 1-0 or 0-1.
Can Jayden Daniels remind everyone who he is?
It wasn’t that long ago that Jayden Daniels had the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
That was 2024, Daniels’ rookie season, and Washington looked like it had finally found the quarterback who could change everything.
Then came 2025.
Daniels was limited to seven games as injuries became a major part of his season, and the Commanders fell all the way to 5-12.
Suddenly, the team that looked like one of the NFC’s rising powers didn’t look so certain anymore.
Now Washington gets Philadelphia in Week 1. That’s about as good of an opportunity as Daniels could ask for.
The Eagles are a division rival and one of the NFC teams Washington ultimately has to get past if it wants to get back into the playoff picture.
A Washington win wouldn’t erase everything that happened last season. But it would make a lot of people start looking at the Commanders differently.
And maybe more importantly, it would remind everyone why so many people were excited about Daniels in the first place.
