Two years after Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was the direct victim of thievery via a burglary at his home, it has come to light that he was robbed in a different way.
Via TMZ, Kelce was named in court on Tuesday as one of the victims of Siddarth Jawahar, who bilked investors out of more than $35 million.
Jawahar was sentenced to 11 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $31 million in restitution.
Kelce’s losses weren’t disclosed.
Per prosecutors, Siddarth initially funneled nearly all of his clients’ funds into Philip Morris Pakistan. When that failed, he used money from new investors to pay existing investors.
Kelce has made plenty of money, both on and off the field. (And he has married very well.) Whatever he lost, he’ll be fine.
Still, it’s another reminder that, when a potential investment seems too good to be true, it probably is.
