Chicago Bears linebacker TJ Edwards picked up his first interception of the season on Monday after listening in on the Philadelphia Eagles’ play call.
Edwards leaned in to listen to Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts give his teammates the play, and moments later, he came down with the ball.
Edwards spent four seasons with the Eagles, so it’s fair to assume that he has at least a general understanding of a lot of their play calls. He used that knowledge and his listening ears to make a big play on Monday.
His move on Monday will surely have opposing teams making sure he’s not listening in on their huddles.
The interception for Hurts was apart of a rough night for him and the Eagles. Hurts had just 153 passing yards and threw an interception on the way to a 27-7 loss. The Bears, meanwhile, improved to 2-1 despite being without starting quarterback Caleb Williams.
