For years, Tyreek Hill’s return to Missouri has been considered a strong possibility.
The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t had an explosive playmaker since they traded the eight-time Pro Bowler to the Miami Dolphins, and he’s also flirted with the organization multiple times.
There were strong rumors tying them together this offseason, but so far to no avail. Hill is still working his way back from a major knee injury, and his market has been pretty quiet so far.
Nevertheless, Chiefs insider Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports still sees a world where they can get back together. However, it won’t happen until late in the season.
Chiefs could still sign Tyreek Hill, but not now
“I’ve maintained that some sort of reunion between Hill and the Chiefs could materialize around or after the NFL trade deadline, or as Kansas City approaches the postseason,” Goldman wrote. “That scenario depends on the team’s situation at wide receiver and how healthy and successful the position group proves to be throughout the year.”
This makes sense. The fact that Hill still hasn’t signed with any team might speak volumes about his health, and he shouldn’t rush his way back after such a delicate injury.
The Chiefs’ wide receiver corps is a bit of a question mark right now, but they have potential.
On paper, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy should do just fine, and rookie Cyrus Allen could also climb his way up the depth chart.
However, if Rice gets himself in trouble or Worthy gets hurt again, they might find themselves in a desperate need for help, and that’s where their former Super Bowl champion could save the day.
For now, nothing seems imminent, and it might be a while before Hill becomes a realistic possibility for any team.
