Dillon Gabriel started off strong during the Cleveland Browns’ preseason finale against the New England Patriots on Thursday night.

While Gabriel sits behind Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders on Cleveland’s quarterback depth chart, he thrived when facing New England.

In the first quarter, Gabriel went 7-of-8 for 135 yards and two touchdowns without committing a turnover.

The Browns held a 17-7 lead heading into the second, amassing 175 total yards throughout the first 15 minutes of action.

Cleveland named Watson as its starting quarterback on Monday following a positional battle with Sanders in training camp.

It’s worth noting that both players only combined for one passing touchdown during the 2026 preseason.

Gabriel is entering his second year in Cleveland after he was selected with a third-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

He appeared in 10 games as a rookie, completing 59.5 percent of his throws for 937 yards and seven touchdowns compared to two interceptions.
