Four Teams Showing Interest In Jadeveon Clowney

Training camps are underway across the NFL, which means it is time for an annual tradition: Jadeveon Clowney signing with a new team.

The 33-year-old typically waits until the summer to decide his home for the upcoming season, by which point teams in need of pass rush help are hot in pursuit. The pattern is no different this year. Four teams are “vying for [Clowney’s] services,” per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, with momentum building towards a signing.

Originally the No. 1 overall pick by the Texans in 2014, Clowney racked up 29 sacks and 64 tackles for loss across his five years in Houston. He has since played for six different teams in the last seven seasons with 23.5 sacks and 30 TFLs since 2023. In 2025, he appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys (six starts) and recorded 8.5 sacks and 12 TFLs; the latter number was his most since 2018.

Clowney previously expressed interest in returning to Baltimore, where he played in 2023. The Ravens rebuilt their edge rusher room this offseason, signing ex-Bengals All-Pro Trey Hendrickson and drafting Zion Young out of Missouri in the second round.

Two other spots will be taken up by 2025 second-round pick Mike Green and 2023 fourth-rounder Tavius Robinson, who both occupied snap shares over 60% when active last year. The fifth spot is somewhat up in the air with 2024 third-rounder Adisa Isaac considered the favorite due to his draft status. But he has barely played in the last two years due to injury; Clowney would no doubt be an instant upgrade in run defense and the pass rush.

The Panthers could also pursue a reunion with Clowney after Nic Scourton‘s training camp ACL tear. Clowney started 14 games in Carolina in 2024 and led the defense with 5.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss. The Bears’ edge rushing group is also thin outside of Montez Sweat. Though Chicago expects Dayo Odeyingbo to make a bigger impact this year, he is coming off a torn Achilles, so Clowney could serve as a solid complement to share the team’s pass-rushing workload.

Money will naturally be a key factor in Clowney’s eventual landing spot. Despite his relatively consistent play, his dollar value has fluctuated over the past few years. Two of his last four contracts paid him $10MM per year, while the two others were one-year pacts worth $2.5MM (Ravens, 2023) and $3.5MM (Cowboys, 2025). Another one-year deal in the range of $11MM – just above Demarcus Lawrence‘s AAV from the Seahawks – would be an appropriate position for Clowney in the positional market, though he certainly has an argument for more. Khalil Mack re-signed with the Chargers for $18MM earlier this year, though his numbers over the last two seasons trail Clowney’s.
