Shedeur Sanders took a break from competing for the Cleveland Browns’ QB1 position to return to Colorado amid his alma mater’s own offseason quarterback battle.
Sanders contributed to a video session in Boulder attended by Colorado players including redshirt freshman Julian Lewis, according to a video shared Friday by Well Off Media.
This isn’t the first return to Boulder for Sanders, who graduated from Colorado in May with a sociology degree.
After leading the Buffaloes to a 3-9 record in the team’s first season since Sanders’ departure for the NFL, coach Deion Sanders has yet to confirm which quarterback will be starting next season.
Last season, he waited until just before the season opener to name Kaidon Salter starter over Lewis.
Lewis is now in a second round of competition for the Week 1 starting job against a quarterback room also featuring transfer redshirt sophomore Isaac Wilson.
While Deion Sanders decides whether to start Lewis and Wilson, his son will be competing with veteran quarterback Deshaun Watson to open the 2026 NFL season for the Browns.
The competition between Sanders and Watson is set to extend into July training camp after Browns head coach Todd Monken declined to name a QB1 at the end of mandatory minicamp earlier this month.
